  5.       Fair river! in thy bright, clear flow
  6.         Of crystal, wandering water,
  7.       Thou art an emblem of the glow
  8.           Of beauty- the unhidden heart-
  9.           The playful maziness of art
  10.       In old Alberto's daughter;

  12.       But when within thy wave she looks-
  13.         Which glistens then, and trembles-
  14.       Why, then, the prettiest of brooks
  15.         Her worshipper resembles;
  16.       For in his heart, as in thy stream,
  17.         Her image deeply lies-
  18.       His heart which trembles at the beam
  19.         Of her soul-searching eyes.
